This might surprise you again

So Bernie Madoff got 150 years in prison for swindling investors. Fine I have no problem with that. But I was wondering what part are the investors playing in this. They willingly took a chance with their money and made a choice. It's really hard to feel sorry for themI know they lost millions but they again chose to invest with him without doing any research. But really the people who should be taking more blame is the SEC. They are the ones who are supposed to be monitoring frauds like Madoff and looked the other way. And we know who is responsible for appointing members of the SEC (in this case Bush).

Never Learn

One thing about Republicans is they never learn. They keep the same views despite losing elections. The latest example is an op-ed piece over the weekend in the Los Angeles times by John Bolton. He said the only way to change things in Iran is with a regime change. So in other words he wants to put more troops in harms way, and radicalize yet another country against the United States (like he helped do in Iraq and Afghanistan) . Republicans are consistantly wrong on this.

RIP

So I guess I should take a moment to talk about the death of Michael Jackson. I hope when he is remembered he is remembered for everything from being a brilliant musician to being a freak and probable child molester. (and I'm sorry when you pay someone off $20 million as he did not to testify that means to me you are hiding something). Remember him for the talent he is and the choices he made.

Bye Bye

Yet another possible contender for the Party of Cowards bit the dust as hopefully soon to be former South Carolina Gov. Mark Samford proved to be yet another hypocrite having and lying about an affair. I would like to take you back to 1998:

“The bottom line, though, is I am sure there will be a lot of legalistic explanations pointing out that the president lied under oath. His situation was not under oath. The bottom line, though, is he still lied. He lied under a different oath, and that is the oath to his wife. So it’s got to be taken very, very seriously.” [Sanford on Livingston, CNN, 12/18/98]

We ought to ask questions…rather than circle the wagons for one of our tribe.” [Sanford on how the GOP reacts to affairs, New York Post, 12/20/98]

“I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign). I come from the business side. If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he’d be gone.” [Sanford on Clinton, The Post and Courier, 9/12/98]

The issue of lying is probably the biggest harm, if you will, to the system of Democratic government, representatives government, because it undermines trust. And if you undermine trust in our system, you undermine everything.” [Sanford on Clinton, CNN, 2/16/99]

So since lying is an issue and you lied you should RESIGN IMMEDIATELY. Just like you asked Bill Clinton.

Last thing I hope we learn about Republicans:

1) They are NOT the party of family values. They are a bunch of perverts and hypocrites!

2) They are NOT the party of fiscal responsibility.

Health Care

So I find it funny in this country where our prisoners get better Health Care then the citizens. The President wants to change that but of course is getting resistant from Senators and Congresspeople on both sides of the isle who are in bed with the insurance companies who don't want competition which will lower prices.

I said this before it's about time the United States joins most of the civilized world and offers government health which would create competition and lower prices.

What is

So I heard a conversation between two Rabbi's on the radio on what constitutes a hate crime. One Rabbi said that if you are a holocaust denier that is a hate crime. Even though I'm Jewish as it is known I disagree. To me a hate crime is a crime committed against an individual based on their race, religion, or sexual preference. To me it's that simple. People do hate and as long as no criminal act is committed that would fall under discrimination laws . But that's my view I would like to get another.

On Vacation

I will be on a well-deserved vacation for the next few days. My first in about 4 years or so. Not sure how much internet access I will have but I will see you all when I get back.

Does he or not

So the question of the week is does Dick Cheney want the United States to be attacked again. First the lie that the United States has been safe since 9/11 cause if you remember we were attaked after with the Anthrax case. Personally I think he does. He wants to be able to go to the media and say "see, I was right". He, like a lot of Republicans, would love to be able to use the new attacks against President Obama. So yes I think Cheney wants us to be attacked again.

3 of a kind

I'd like to talk about three hypocrisies going on yesterday. Two by Republicans and one by the President.

1) War funding vote. All but 5 Republicans voted against funding for the troops. Whenever Bush wanted funding Republicans resorted to their usual "un-american" or "treason" or "you do not support the troops" card for those who opposed it. Who really doesn't support the troops now as I've been saying all along.

2) Sen. John Ensign of Nevada (R). He was caught having an affair with a staff member. He is one who called for Larry Craig and Bill Clinton to resign for their affairs. Shouldn't he have to resign as well since he got caught? Oh year Republicans who have affairs don't have to do anything.

3) President Obama won't release the visitors list to the White House. I was pissed when Bush and Cheney wouldn't release the list and am equally upset. What does the President have to hide he promised a more open Government and this is one of the things he should be doing to show it.

English Only

So there are movements (mainly by the right) to have English as the official language of the United States. If I go to any country outside of the United States I am expected to know a the language they speak why shouldn't that be the case here? Living in Los Angeles I would say Spanish is spoken as much as English and I feel I shouldn't have to learn Spanish unless I go to Mexico or any country that speaks it. Shouldn't that be the same here?

Up Up Up

So gas prices are up again and I am wondering if President Obama is going to keep a campaign promise and install a windfall profits tax to the oil companies cause everyone knows that it is profit taking.

Who should really apologize

The psycho right owes an apology to the Department of Homeland Security for the threat report a few months ago that got you bent out of shape. You continuously smeared them for saying that the report called you a terrorist when it didn't unless you are part of the groups that they referred to. Which my guess is you are. Now we have two terrorist attacks and you made THEM issue an apology. You are the sick freaks and should apologize to them. I'm waiting for you to grow a set and apologize. That's right I'm calling you what you are and that's a bunch of cowards

Back in the News

I see where Rev. Wright is back in the news and as usual not in a good way. He is quoted as saying "them jews are keeping me from talking to Obama. " I'm sorry but when I talk about racism that means from both sides. He offers no proof of his ignorant, racist quote and I find it as disgusting as if someone like O'Idiot or druggie would say it. Sorry he is wrong and a sick bastard for saying that!

Right Yet Again

Yet again the threat assesment that had the right up in arms is proven right as yesterday yet another extremest yesterday went into the holocaust museum in Washington and shot a guard and who knows how many more if he wasn't stopped. And if you look at this psycho's history as has been reported on the news you know he should have NEVER had access to a firearm as he already served time for similar crimes. The people though who need to apologize are those on the right who were upset at that report because that's two terrorist attacks in a week now.

Detainees in U.S.

So the trials are about to begin for people Bush kidnapped and held, up until now, without charges and due process. The trials are in New York which to me is fine. I don't know why the right is convinced our prison system couldn't handle the suspects considering we have convicted terroists but all they know how to do is spread fear and misinformation. Typical cowardice from the party of cowards as they as ALWAYS refuse to listen to facts.

If these people are found guilty send them to supermax prison in Colorado but these people do deserve their day in court.

Time To Go

Yesterday, the Bush Supreme Court upheld the horrible Bill Clinton policy of Don't Ask Don't Tell where gay and lesbians cannot openly serve in the military. I realize President Obama has a lot to deal with but as a candidate he promised to repeal this horrible policy and that is one thing that needs to be done. President Obama do the right thing.

An Interesting Week

The week should be interesting as the debate on healthcare starts. It's about time our government joins civilized nations in offering healthcare to those who want it. Again it's something that needs to be done.

The Truth at last

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Cheney+Iraq+9%2F11&btnG=Google+Search

The above link shows a couple of things. First Dick Cheney saying how Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 as well as his previous lies saying they did. In fact that was one of the main reasons we were told we had to invade Iraq. So since Cheney admitted he lied he, like Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell should all be charged with war crimes. He murdered over 4000 American troops and who knows how many Iraqi citizens based on these lies. Damn him.

Speeches

I just saw President Obama's speech direct to Muslim nations. I have a mixed bag about this because being who I am religiously I don't want to be friendly nations who sole purpose is to destroy Israel and its citizens however at least President Obama is doing something Bush wouldn't know how to do if his life depended on it and that is make an effort for peace and not war.

Easy Target

I see where the Mn. Gov. isn't going to run for a third term fueling speculation that he is going to run for Pres. in 2012. Really he is an easy target all Democrats will have to do is run ads how he refuses to seat the ELECTED SENATOR of Minnesota so Norm Coleman can try his best to get the LEGALLY COUNTED VOTES overturned.

Huh?

So I see where President Obama signed a bill to mark 2011 as a year to honor Ronald Reagan's 100 birthday. I'm not sure if you realize Regan is, as I've said before, the most OVERRATED PRESIDENT OF ALL TIME! I don't know how people think he did as much as Republicans claim he did but he did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AS PRESIDENT.Give me a break! He should have been in jail for Iran-Contra.

Words and consequences II

Remember a few months ago there was a threat assessment that had the right up in arms? It said had domestic right-wing hate groups were increasing and they needed to be monitored and the right was pissed off? Well it turned out it was dead on and the first victim was a Dr Tiller who was murdered in Kansas Sunday. His only crime was he performed abortions. Minding everyone it is a LEGAL PROCEDURE. A man associate with right-wing pro life groups gunned him in a church.

Why do I have the title words and consequences in my post? Well I'd like to present you with these links and how Fox News and specifically Bill O Idiot is an accessory in this murder by encouraging acts of violence. I know he will never be charged but he is clearly in part responsible:

http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200906010035
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200906010025

Again I believe inciting violence is a crime and I believe O'Idiot should be charged. He continuously called him "Tiller the baby killer" and inciting the hatred toward him. He is nothing but scum and as far as I am concerned a murderer.

Proof

If you need anymore proof how the right is a bunch of hypocrites here is the confirmation of Samuel Lieto (not a typo) for the Supreme Court:

ALITO: I don't come from an affluent background or a privileged background. My parents were both quite poor when they were growing up.

And I know about their experiences and I didn't experience those things. I don't take credit for anything that they did or anything that they overcame.

But I think that children learn a lot from their parents and they learn from what the parents say. But I think they learn a lot more from what the parents do and from what they take from the stories of their parents lives.

And that's why I went into that in my opening statement. Because when a case comes before me involving, let's say, someone who is an immigrant -- and we get an awful lot of immigration cases and naturalization cases -- I can't help but think of my own ancestors, because it wasn't that long ago when they were in that position.

And so it's my job to apply the law. It's not my job to change the law or to bend the law to achieve any result.

But when I look at those cases, I have to say to myself, and I do say to myself, "You know, this could be your grandfather, this could be your grandmother. They were not citizens at one time, and they were people who came to this country."

When I have cases involving children, I can't help but think of my own children and think about my children being treated in the way that children may be treated in the case that's before me.

And that goes down the line. When I get a case about discrimination, I have to think about people in my own family who suffered discrimination because of their ethnic background or because of religion or because of gender. And I do take that into account. When I have a case involving someone who's been subjected to discrimination because of disability, I have to think of people who I've known and admire very greatly who've had disabilities, and I've watched them struggle to overcome the barriers that society puts up often just because it doesn't think of what it's doing -- the barriers that it puts up to them.

So those are some of the experiences that have shaped me as a person.

And must we not forget Clarence Thomas:

During Thomas' Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) asked, "I'd like to ask you why you want this job?" Thomas replied in part: "I believe, Senator, that I can make a contribution, that I can bring something different to the Court, that I can walk in the shoes of the people who are affected by what the Court does."

http://mediamatters.org/research/200905310014

So according to the right based on what they say about Obama's nomination, doesn't that make them racists too? Yes it does. Why wasn't Rush or Newt or anyone calling Alieto and Thomas out then?
