Question

How can someone claim to be "pro life" when they are pro gun?

  1. Easy. There's an estimated 2.5 million people in the U.S. per year who's life was saved because they owned a gun.

You might be one Erik and not even know it. Ever consider that thieves haven't broken into your home because they don't know whether or not there's a gun in your house?

  4. Actually Erik, I'm pro-abortion and I've said this before. Apparently you have forgotten that. Yes, it's possible to be a pro-abortion, anti-death penalty conservative because I am one.

Anyways, according to stats I found (United States — Gun Facts, Figures and the Law), there were 32,163 gun-related deaths in the U.S. in 2011.

I want too clarify my earlier assertion of the estimated 2.5 million lives saved per year. That number is the number of incidents where an individual used a gun for self-protection. All 2.5 million incidences may not have resulted in the death of the would-be gun user. That number is estimated to be 400,000.

To answer your question, it is not MORE, it is in fact less.

    400,000 > 32,163 (If I remember my second-grade math correctly)

Even if the numbers were reversed, my opinion wouldn't change. The RIGHT to be able to defend oneself against enemies, both foreign and domestic is a key factor in what makes Americans free. No government should EVER have the ability to take that RIGHT away.
