For a laugh

For a good laugh read Jonah Goldberg's column from earlier in the week in the Los Angeles Times. Why they keep him employed is beyond me. His column actually states that we shouldn't be concerned about global warming because "earth is going to be destroyed by an asteroid". It's really about smearing those who believe global warming is a serious problem but the reason is hysterical.

Goldberg is yet another right-wing nutjob among many out there.

I didn't read the article but I don't think I really need to.

You must not have gotten the memo. Alarmists now call it climate change. Why is that? There are several reasons. Much to the inconvenience of the alarmists, global temperatures have been generally falling since 1998. Against all predictions, and much to the disappointment of alarmists, hurricane activity has been mild for the past half-decade. The north polar ice cap that the alarmists were so sure would be gone as early as this year, has remarkably made a comeback.

That's okay for the alarmists, though. Now that it's called "climate change", any weather deviation, warmer or cooler, can be blamed on the big, bad, oil companies.

So why did I not need to read the article? Because plain and simply, an asteroid is a genuine threat to life on Earth. We play Russian roulette every day we don't take this threat seriously because an asteroid is going to hit us and destroy us all one day. It's almost a mathematical certainty. We don't know if that fate is a million years away or next year, but it is going to happen.

As for climate change, if you subscribe to this religion, be my guest. Just understand it is not based on science no matter what the alarmists are telling you.

As always you are wrong but hey I expect no less. But at least for once you are on my point. I think it is a problem and not a "normal cycle" as you have said previously. You call people alarmest cause you disagree when science shows it is a problem. If it isn't why did Bush refuse to release reports which would have showed that it is a problem. Weather patterns are changing in the world. The temperature is getting warmer, the ice caps are melting and who knows what effect that will have. Is it better to try to change or to ignore things and hope that nothing ever happens? Now I'm not a save the planet freak as many are out there I'm not an alarmest as you would say but I do think it's a problem and should not be ignored.
