At it Again

http://rawstory.com/2010/02/bristol-palin-calls-fox-writers-heartless-jerks-family-guy/

I will say this no one plays the victims better then the Palin family. There latest is at attack on a Family Guy Episode where on of the characters is in love with a girl with Downs Syndrome. Of course they think it's an attack on them. Whether this is an attack on them or not they need to remember they decided to be in the public eye so they are going to be made fun of if they like it or not. They are going to have to deal with it or go away it's that simple.

Did you see the episode? If not, see the excerpt here:

'Family Guy' Attacks Sarah and Trig Palin With Down Syndrome Joke

This is utterly across the line. Palin has every right to be upset at this attack on HER FAMILY.

I really can't believe you would defend this. What if Family Guy made fun of one of the Obama children? There would be riots in the street and Family Guy would be off the air forever.

I sometimes watched Family Guy but I promise I will never watch another episode again.

I've seen it twice. So what? If she doesn't like being made fun of she shouldn't parade her family in the public as she does all the time. You can't defend her on this sorry.

And Robert if you watch the show you know it's satire. They have made more fun of Bill Clinton then they had queen sarah.

2 episodes featured them poking fun (deservedly) at Clinton.

And if you looked Palin wasn't mentioned by name.

And for the record it wasn't their funniest episode but not cause of the topic.

You are skirting the issue. The show didn't make fun of Sarah Palin, it made fun of her child with Down's Syndrome. I haven't been seeing her "parade her family", and if she did, so what? That makes them fair game?

Apparently, it's okay for adults to make fun of abnormal children if the child's parents are Republicans.

In an earlier Family Guy episode, A Nazi in 1940's Germany wore a McCain/Palin campaign button. Palin never said anything about that. It was largely left alone (and rightly so, since as you pointed out, the show has spoofed other politicians.)

As usual, Robert misses the point. Erik did, too. The definitive word on this should come from the voice actress, who has Down's syndrome herself, and basically told palin to lighten up. The people with Down's syndrome get to define what's offensive to them, not us, and certainly not opportunistic and shameless dolts like Palin, who will exploit her family for her own ambition at the drop of a hat.

If Palin hadn't exploited Trig herself at every opportunity, she might have a point. But once she did, ridculing her for doing so is not crossing the line. And when the people WITH Down's syndrome feel it's appropriate, too, then the rest of us should give them the deference.

And Tom she is okay with drug addict Limbaugh calling people retards but a Democrat?? God forbid. She's hypocrite in every sense. And Robert where were you when republicns were attacking Chelsea Clinton and her apperence?

Robert E Wilson said...

I wasn't aware that the woman who did the voice in that show represented all people with Down's Syndrome.

"And Robert where were you when republicns were attacking Chelsea Clinton and her appe[a]r[a]nce?"

I guess I was on vacation that day. I honestly don't remember anybody doing that.

Robert where was your outrage when Republicans gleefully happily played the barrack the magic negro song? Where is your outrage when Republicans especially tea baggers continuously compare Obama to hitler? If you are offended by family Guy these Republican doing worse but you were silent when I talked about it.

Erik,

First of all, for the record, I thought the "Puff.." song was totally offensive. Comparing Obama to Hitler was utterly wrong too. (But apparently you thought it was okay to compare Bush to Hitler?)

But Erik, That is Not the Point! It is one thing to ridicule a public figure. Why do you and Tom not understand that it is not cool to go after their families?

Again, what if some show made an unflattering joke about the Obama girls? No matter what it was, it would be spun as racist and the show would disappear and the makers of the show would have to go on an apology tour.

Erik said...

So again where were you when Republicans attached Chelsea Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Obama's kids? Oh yeah nowhere

Erik said...

Robert you suffer from selective outrage. If going after palin's family is bad then you should be equally outraged when Republicans initiate the attacks on democrats families but you are silent on that. You CHOOSE to ignore that. Really Republicans initiate attacks but cry like babies when someone attacks or calls them on it. That's why they are hypocrites

Really Erik, where did right-wingers utterly ridicule Chelsea Clinton or Michelle Obama? As I stated before, I have no recoollection of anything against Chelsea. All I remember about Michelle Obama is them criticizing her for her "For the first time, I'm proud to be an American." quote, and they were right to criticize her for that.

Where was there ANYTHING even close to making fun of a child with Down's Syndrome?
