So Helen Thomas, one of the toughest White House Reporters for years, resigned after making disgusting anti-jewish comments over the weekend. Now if onely other people were fired for making similar if not worse comments. Here are a few:

The drug addict:

Pat Buchanan

Bill O'Reilly

She had every right to say, hateful as it is, what she said but she is also responsible for what she said.

"The Drug Addict:"

Even the Anti-Defamation League called it "borderline". While I think his remarks were inappropriate and he should apologize, there is a kernel of truth in his statement.

Pat Buchanan:

I don't agree with Buchanan's statements. Unlike Limbaugh, there is some real anti-semitism in what he said. However, take consideration that his remarks were made 20 years ago.

Bill O'Reilly:

I got to agree with Bill here. There is not one iota of anti-semitism in his remarks to the caller. If I lived in Israel, I would understand and not be offended by Jewish celebrations. Heck, I'm not offended by them in the United States.

There are two points I want to make. One, Helen Thomas is supposed to be a journalist. She is not supposed to reveal her personal opinions. Limbaugh, Buchanan and O'Reilly are not journalists, they are commentators or pundits if you will. They are paid to express their opinions, like them or not.

Secondly, Thomas' statement was by far, more offensive than anything the others said. She essentially said the entire 62 year old nation of Israel is illegitimate. She does not take responsibility for what she said. She doesn't take her words back. She was forced to resign. Essentially, she was fired.

They do claim to be journalists actually. I could have listed additional comments from "journalists" like Coulter and many others. And what about the quote about being conservatives being responsible? No one EVER has taken them to task for what they say. We have the right to say what we feel but there has to be responsibility and consequences, like what rightfully happened to Helen Thomas, to their words and actions.

Robert my question to you would be do you know why people came to the "mew world" originally? In part it was to escape religion. I don't want one religion forced on me. That's why O'Idiots comments bother me and offended many. Why should anyone be forced to have one religious view and that's what he is advocating, one religious view. And that is exactly what's wrong with his statement!

I've specifically heard Coulter and O'Reilly state they are not journalists. I can't speak for the others but I'm sure they see themselves as commentators. Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, and Bill Maher aren't journalists either.

As for responsibility, why aren't they being responsible? They state their beliefs and take the flak from those who disagree. Nothing wrong with that although I'm not sure Limbaugh falls in that category. I don't care for him or listen to him.

No, they needed to escape persecution for their religion and be free to practice their religion. There is a big difference. I don't understand why O'Reilly's comments "offended" you. Are you offended by Christian symbols? I'm not offended by Jewish symbols so I guess I'm more open-minded than you.
