Finally

Keeping yet another one of his campaign promises and unlike a certain person landing on an aircraft carrier with a big "mission accomplished" sign in the background, combat operations in Iraq ARE ACTUALLY OVER! This is a war we should have NEVER got involved with, costs thousands of lives, we were deceived to begin with and really if anyone needs to be but on trial for war crimes it's the previous administration. Thank god we have a current President in Obama who doesn't take false victory laps.

Regretfully, that's not true. Combat operations in Iraq are not over. They're just being led by Iraqi units. American "trainers" will accompany Iraqi units taking part in combat, and will also take part in combat. This is semantic twisting. I didn't stand for the Bush Pentagon doing it, and I won't stand for the Obama Pentagon doing it either.

The good news is that American troops in this war we had no need or interest in fighting are down to below 50,000. The bad news is that they will continue participating in combat missions, and some will die, through at least the end of next year.
