Just wondering

I was just wondering something.... What if say, instead of a bunch of angry white males bringing their guns to Washington to protest something like the tea partiers are doing say Arab Americans, or African Americans were protesting? How would they be treated? Would they be hailed by the right-wing media as heroes? Or would they be villified and arrested immediately? What if, say an African American spat on say Mitch McConnel like what happened to African American Congressmen Emanuel Cleaver and Fred Lewis? How would they be treated? What if say, Stevie Wonder or Prince called say Eric Cantor a piece of shit and said he could suck on their machine gun like Ted Nugent has toward President Obama? Would they be called great Americans by O'Reilly, Limbaugh? Would they be excused by saying well they have 1st amendment rights? The answer is of course no they wouldn't of course. Just something to think about

Since you are wondering, here is the answer:

If it was a group of African Americans, CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC would be all over it and bestow admiration for the group exercising their right to free speech. Anderson Cooper would compare such an event to the "heady days of Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement". Chris Matthews would say how tragic it is that we live in a country with a black President that still has so much racism that would force these brave African Americans to have to protest. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would encourage all African Americans to not go to work for one day to support those in Washington. Teachers in all schools everywhere will show the event in their classrooms and point it out as a great day for America. Fox News will question the attention the protest gets and be labeled by other media moguls as "hateful", "bigots", and "racists".

That's what would happen.

If it was a group of Arab Americans. CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC would be all over it and bestow admiration for the group exercising their right to free speech. Anderson Cooper would point out how sad it is that an entire group of people get such bad treatment in America because a teeny, tiny percentage may tend to be violent. Chris Matthews would comment how much more peaceful Muslims are in protest than Christians. Someone at the New York Times or Washington Post will write an inspirational piece that shows how American these people are. It will win a Pulitzer. Teachers in all schools everywhere will show the event in their classrooms and teach the students how we must be tolerant of all cultures and religions. Fox News will question a lot of this and be labeled by other media moguls as "hateful", "bigots", and "racists".

That's what would happen.

Please show me where O'Reilly called Ted Nugent a "Great American".

you REALLY think they would get favorable press? Come on they would be at least called thugs if not terrorists by the media. They would be at least arrested if they carried a gun to these rallies and you wouldn't hear ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS. To think otherwise is naive

No way, whatsoever. If for no other reason, the mainstream media would be too scared if they painted anything like this to be in any way, negative. Jesse Jackson and the like, would condemn them in the first case. In the second case, just look at what happened with the South Park show concerning Muslims.

I'm still waiting for some kind of link showing where Bill O'Reilly praised Ted Nugent.
