Interesting

There are reports now that Sen. Hillary Clinton is being considered Sec. Of State. While not being the worse idea out there how about either Bill Richardson (N.M.) or Charles Rangel. I think Hillary if she wants to help Obama would be best off staying in the Senate.

I strongly suspect this has nothing to do with how Hillary can best help President-to-be Obama. For abandoning her candidacy without a real convention fight, and for the help she and Bill gave during September and October, Hillary demanded a price. This is about Obama paying the price he and Hillary agreed upon for her cooperation.

What surprises me is that she would want Secretary of State. While she certainly has foreign policy credentials, her interests have always seemed more with domestic policy. Though the job is fifth in line for the Presidency, it does seem like a step down for her.

What I was sort of expecting was that she had extracted a promise for the next open seat on the Supreme Court. But only she and Obama know what she asked for, and he promised, when they held their private meeting at Senator Feinstein's house last summer.

If she were appointed Secretary of State, it would require a lot of travel and time away from home.

Works for me...
