What Happened

Just wondering what happened to holidays being celebrated on the day they are? Last I checked Columbus Day was October 12th and NOT October 8th. Even if it's cause of a three day weekend (which it obviously is) October 12th is on a FRIDAY this year and not a Monday. What's going to happen with Christmas when that is no longer celebrated December 25th but December 28th? That's what's next.

I completely agree. Many holidays have lost virtually all meaning to many people. The only function of holidays such as MLK Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day seems to be for stores to have blockbuster sales so we can spend that extra day shopping.

I have no problem with a day off in the middle of a week instead of a Monday. I say let's have the day off on Monday only whent the holiday actually falls on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

I guess, next year, we'll celebrate the "Fourth of July" on the 7th.
