I wanna change the subject a bit tonight. I am listening to the sports station here am 570. http://www.am570radio.com and they are talking about everyone's views toward their top 3 sports icons in Los Angeles.
Here is my list:
1) Luc Robotille of the Los Angeles Kings
2) Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers
3) Fernando Valenzuela of the Dodgers
I'd like to know what you think if you are in Los Angeles as well as wherever you live. Who would you say are the top 3 sports icons of your city?

It's tough narrowing it down to three because you are going to leave some deserving people out.
If I absolutely had to put it down to 3, I'd say:

It was hard for me to put 3 also trust me.
Can't you also make an argument for Reggie Jackson who spent time with the Angels? Tiger Woods? Venus and Serena Williams?

Bonds is being left out because of steroid abuse. :-)
Reggie Jackson got most of his fame as an A and as a Yankee. His career was in decline by the time he was an Angel.
I don't associate Tiger Woods with Los Angeles since golf is an individual sport, where the individual's city of origin isn't really that meaningful. That would apply to the Williams' sisters as well.
They are great athletes in their respective sports, but they don't represent Los Angeles.
Here is a question for both of you: What uniform will both Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens wear if/when they are elected in the Hall of Fame. Certainly arguments can be made for both players going with not their current teams. Just curious what you think.
Obviously, it's up to the player.
Bonds, for perhaps the wrong reasons, will probably be remembered more as a San Francisco Giant.
Clemens had the majority of his success as a member of the Boston Red Sox. It would be my guess that he will be in the hall along with Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski.
Actualy from what I understand the player has no say in it. Baseball has the say.

Hate to disagree with bill c but Wilt spent most of his career and set most of his records as a Philadelphia Warrior.
Steve Garvey was too much of a pretty-boy politician-wanna be. He portrayed himself as Mr. Clean and turned out to be anything but.
Kobe is too selfish and too caught up in scandal. Besides, he is still playing. Usually honors such as a cities' "sports icon" isn't bestowed on a current player.
They're the top icons in my favorite sport...

It's a good thing I didn't put non-athletes. Would could include Bob Miller, Vin Scully, Chick Hearn, Tommy LaSorda so many others.
