I'd like to add two new names for my enemies list. (Drumroll Please) The two new edditions are CNN commentator Bill Bennett and Los Angeles Times Columnist Max Boot.
Reason I am adding them is the following: I didn't have one back in September when Bennett said "you can abort every black baby and the crime rate would drop" which is an incredibly stupid remark but both he and Boot said during the week that Pulitzer Prize winning reporters Dana Priest,James Risen and Eric Lichtblau should be in jail for treason for exposing the NSA's spying program and letting the public know about it.
They represent the typical right-wing philosophy that they feel we as a public should not know what the President is doing and why he is doing it. If you wonder part of the reason the President's numbers are falling it's cause of morans like them who blindly support Bush.
Congrats Bill Bennett and Max Boot you are numbers 5 and 6.

Who's protecting You
Two things happened in the Senate yesterday that you should find intersting:
1) Senate voted yesterday to cut funding for our troops in Iraq by 30%
2) Senate voted yesterday to NOT have 100% of our cargo screened at our ports.
THink about that ladies and gentlemen. The REPUBLICAN MAJORITY voted to hurt our troops and not protect us. Remember that come election time.

Who Pays?
So I'm thinking, who is really paying for the fuel prices. I mean not the oil companies they are making billions. Let's take a look.
First we pay at the pump. We know here in Ca. the price of gas is over $3.00 a gallon. But that's not all we are paying for.
Airlines have a fuel surcharge due to the high fuel prices. Now mind you they don't remove that as prices lower. Again we pay.
Hotels also have the same type of charge. Again we pay.
Wonder how long before prices for everyday food items have the same charge?
So we are paying for the oil companies greed.
I wish Bush would do something but the only answer I really heard from him so far is drilling in the Alaskan National Wildlife Preserve which won't change a thing.

Scary Thought
By the way you might want to stay away from Nevada on June 2nd. Bush is testing a 700 ton "bunker buster" nuclear weapon. Utah should also beware.
On another Bush note he turned our Governors request for aid to help fix our levees. Or I should say he said he will send the army core of engineers but we will pay for it. Nice to know he cares. Wasn't Arnie claiming he would get us more federal money for our tax dollars we send to Washington or was I dreaming?

Tragedy
Tragedy in Egypt where a carbomb has killed at least 30 people. Haven't heard yet if anyone claimed responsibility but I will keep you informed.
Sorry
Sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days I've had computer problems. Things should be back to normal shortly.

One More Thing
Just wondering why the men on the Duke Lacrosse team were charged with kidnapping when she was supposed to be/hired to be there??

Reasons Unknown
You know what bothers me greatly is when things are done just to appease a group. Here is what I mean. The other week I talked about the Duke LaCrosse team and the rape allegations against them. The person that claimed she was raped was a black women and the members of the Duke Lacrosse team that were accused were white.
They took DNA of the entire men's Lacrosse team and the tests came back negative so what that means is if she was raped it was not by them.
The black community was up in arms screaming for justice so the DA files charges against some of the players dispite the lack of evidence and gets a grand jury to indict them.
Here is the thing: I just heard today on the radio the players indicted have eyewitnesses (a cab driver and an atm camera) that will show they weren't even at the party in question at the time the accuser claims she was raped so if that is true that indicates that even more of pandering is being done by the DA (who faces an election soon).
IF it turns out none of this is true and the players are found guilty of rape I hope they hang them from the highest tree. But if the women is lying she deserves the same treatment.

So were any of you around 100 years ago when San Francisco had the great earthquake (I guess that means you Robert :) )
So really there are two things I would like to point out: It's been awhile since we had a major, damaging quake in California so I guess we are due. 2) Are we prepared. I know building codes are strict here but that won't stop damage from occuring.
My question I guess is this: Since it's been a long time since a major quake how prepared are we for the next quake? I know I have an emergency kit in my car and little things like that but what about areas who are due big quakes like Memphis. Who's buildings are as up to code as they are here.

Haven't I heard This Before?
I guess the right-wing news and talk media has a limited vocabulary. From thinkprogress Steve Forbes on Fox over the weekend:
Appearing on Fox News this weekend, Steve Forbes said the way to lower gas prices is to “have the confrontation with Iran.” Forbes warned Fox viewers that “the longer we let it fester, the higher the price of oil will stay.”
You can view the video there.

Just Wondering Part 2
As gas hits $3.00 a gallon can someone correct me if I wrong here BUT wasn't one of the reasons given to Iraq that it was supposed to ease the prices of oil? Or was that another lie by Bush. Wasn't the oil profits supposed to pay for the Iraq war instead of the several hundred billion it's costing U.S. Taxpayers?
Just wondering
Did anyone notice how when we were starting to talk about Iran, weigh the options on if it would be beneficial or not to invade them, we've been hit by the immigration issue?
Just wondering if anyone noticed how the right-wing news and talk media changed the subject when it appeared that the idea of another war wasn't going in the administrations favor.
But any administration would try to distract the public now would they??

Here it comes
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/15/GOP.checklist.ap/index.html?section=cnn_allpolitics
So the right-wing congress and senate is going to bring up all the old favorite talking points instead of real issues like the upcoming war in Iran (which by the way Bush needs their permission otherwise it's another law broken) but instead we are going to get all of their favorites: Flag-Burning, more limits on Abortion, constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.
Typical right-wing. Instead of talking and trying to take up things like healthcare and things that would matter they would rather talk about things that either the right-wing news and talk media and the religious right care about.

48%
This is at Raw Story.
48% of Americans back military action in Iran. You don't learn do you? The first lessons on war is you never open a two front war. This would be a third.

More on Religion
From thinkprogress.org
Here we go again. Bill O'Reilly (also on my enemies list) is re-creating the war on Chritsmas. Now it's a war on Easter. A transcript from his show:
O’REILLY: Although some left-wingers in the media deny it, we have documented a number of cases where Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter have been attacked by secular interests. Lawsuits and corporate policies have proved this point over and over again.
I'm suprised he hasn't said about how Christians are being persecuted. The right-wingers make me sick.

Ann Coultier
You see there are exact reasons why I put Ann Coultier on my enemies list. Here is another one:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200604120004
I realize how stupid she is. She is being investigated for voting fraud right now in Florida. But first here is the title of her new book: Godless: The Church of Liberalism
So that being said she thinks liberals don't have religion in their lives which is of course crap. And besides I'd rather not have religion dominate my life like the right-wing does. Also the release if the book is going to be June 6 or in other words 6-6-06 and that was done on pupose as well.
She is a disgusting word that starts with B and ends with H (I think you can figure out the rest) and I still wonder why, other then she is a right-winger, gets any airtime?
By the way you tell me here is a converstation between her and Fox News Neil Cavuto:
CAVUTO: All right, June 6th, 2006: 6-6-6. It's the sign of the devil, they say, and this year, the release of Godless, Ann Coulter's new book, and the latest attack on liberals. It's probably not a coincidence. Ann joins us now from West Palm Beach, Florida. Ann, that can't be an accident, can it?
COULTER: No, it's my little tribute to liberals, to have it come out on 6-6-6.
CAVUTO: Why? What are you saying?
COULTER: Uh, godless.
CAVUTO: All right --
COULTER: That's all -- that's all I can tell you, what the title is.
CAVUTO: Why are they godless? Why are they godless?
COULTER: I'm not talking about the book until 6-6-6.
CAVUTO: I -- I'm well aware of that.
COULTER: You'll get me in trouble with my publicist.
CAVUTO: That's a bit of a leap, that's a bit of a leap. You know, there are a lot of liberals who are religious and decent folks. You can't paint them by the same brush.
COULTER: I know you're going to try to lure me into this, but I'm not taking the bite. [sic]
CAVUTO: OK.
By the way in a recent debate in Los Angeles Al Franken kicked her A$$.

Tolerance or Intolerance
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-christians10apr10,0,1491706,print.story?coll=ny-leadnationalnews-headlines
This article is interesting in my opinion. A student in Georgia is suing so she can speak hatred and intolerance toward homosexuals.
While she has not been banned from speaking it away from her school, her school has a policy where you cannot speak out negatively toward homosexuals. Why anyone would want to is beyond me but that's not the issue.
The reason I'm posting this is the following: I have never understood the hatred the right has toward homosexuals. I hear people like O'Reilly saying if you say legalize gay marriage you mine as well legalize marriage between people and goats and disgusting things like that. I would like to know why they are intolerent to people with different taste then they.

End Of Radio
Tom Petty had a song called The Last DJ which is about L.A. Disc Jockey Jim Ladd however the song has a point as radio is losing an important piece and becoming more computerized.
First last year we had a station Arrow FM which played nothing but my favorite kind of music Classic Rock. That station changed to a format called Jack FM which basically plays any type of music. Don't get me wrong Jack plays songs I haven't heard in ages and plays a lot of good music.
Now we just had another station change to a computerized format. No DJ's no personalization nothing. Just songs being played by a computer.
To me it's a matter of time before choices are going to be eliminated.

So Karl Rove thinks the elections in 2000,2002 and 2004 were clean? I wish I knew what he was watching. We all know about 2000 and 2004 and we are hearing about how the White House was involved in jamming phones at democratic districts in 2002 so you tell me is that clean?
Go to http://www.rawstory.com for the latest on the White House involvement in that.
Rove also stated that he feels some U.S. Elections are comparable to 3rd world countries. My only response to that is you created this. You are not doing anything to fix this so it's on YOU Mr. Rove.

Rush to Judgement
So we all know about what happened at Duke University. The mens Lacrosse team had a party and a stripper hired for the party claimed she was raped.
The University, naturally believing the woman, cancelled the rest of the Lacrosse season, made the coach resign, and suspended the mens Lacrosse team from school.
Here is where it gets interesting. They took DNA of the Duke players and it turns out the DNA was negative so it appears the woman was lying or if she was attacked was attacked before the party.
So where this is now I guess is as followed: The woman appears to be lying, Duke had the coach resign and suspended the players for no apparent reason. Can you say pending lawsuit??
That's what happens when you think before the facts come out.

9/11 Movies
I've posted a few times I've lost friends on 9/11 in the World Trade Center. The events of that day are very personal to me. That's part of my utter hatred I have toward George Bush because he turned that into the War on Iraq who had nothing to do with the events of that tragic day.
I've seen the ads for Flight 93 which is about the plane that was hijacked and crashed in PA. after the passengers tried to take the plane back and I'm reading where Oliver Stone is also directing a movie starring Nicholas Cage. I don't know.
Everyone figured out that movies were going to be made about the attacks on that day and there has been tons of Documentaries on places like the Discovery Channel etc. but I admit it's hard for me to this day, as obviously it's even harder for the widows of the tragedy, to watch videos from that day.
I guess the question is that I'm trying to ask is what is appropriate. Stories should be told and the victims should never be forgotten but what is the right thing to do.
And by the way can anyone believe this year will be the 5th anniversery of the attacks?

Cocky
Just how cocky is G.W.?? http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Rush_transcript_Bush_admits_declassifying_Iraq_0410.html
Here is a transcript is an exchange between G.W. and a student today:
Q Sorry. (Laughter.) My question, sir, is -- well, as Anthony eluded to earlier, and as you're aware, we have many students at SAIS who are currently working for or considering working for the State Department, the various intelligence agencies, and such. And how do you respond to the recent report by Prosecutor Fitzgerald that there is, in his words, "evidence of a concerted effort by the White House to punish Joseph Wilson," who himself has a distinguished record of government service.
PRESIDENT BUSH: Yeah. No. I -- this is -- there's an ongoing legal proceeding which precludes me from talking a lot about the case. There's also an ongoing investigation that's a serious investigation. I will say this, that after we liberated Iraq, there was questions in people's minds about, you know -- about the basis on which I made the statements, in other words going into Iraq. And so I decided to declassify the NIE for a reason. I wanted to see people -- people to see what some of those statements were based on. That's what I wanted to see. I wanted people to see the truth. And I thought it made sense for people to see the truth, and that's why I declassified the document.
...And I felt I could do so without jeopardizing, you know, ongoing intelligence matters, and so I did. And as far as the rest of the case goes, you're just going to have let Mr. Fitzgerald complete his case, and I hope you understand that. It's a serious legal matter that we've got to be careful in making public statements about it. (Chuckles.)
So let me guess this straight- Bush admits to treason (again his own words) and in fact is joking about it. Nevermind how many lives he ruined by it. He needs to be tried and given the appropriate punishment for these disgusting acts.

Enemies List
I'd like to add someone new to my enemies list.
Joining Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coultier, Rush Limbaugh is... (Drumroll Please)
Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol. Weekly Standard is a conservative magazine for those who are not aware.
The reason I am adding him is for the following quote on Fox News Sunday: (courtesy of thinkprogress.org)
"You know, the leak story is absurd, but I now think the whole prosecution is absurd. And I have hesitated to say this, because I have friends who respect Fitzgerald, but I now think it’s a politically motivated attempt to wound the Bush administration. … He is now out to discredit the Bush administration. He has bought the argument that there is something improper about the Bush administration responding to Joe Wilson’s charges."
Now I need to remind you that George Bush himself said whoever leaked the information was treason. So Bush is the one who committed treason. But the dellusional right-wing manages as always to blame others.

Sunday
I'd like to talk about Bill O'Reilly's column per usual. He talks about teenage drinking and how "dangerous" it is. I'm not saying he's wrong mind you but isn't drinking dangerous for anyone if it's done in access? He also talks about how it leads to teenage girls being pregnant. Again though it happens in adults as well. We can take a look at our presidents past use of drinking and drugs.
But this is a broader issue. First the right-wing demands that you teach abstinence only sex-ed to the kids like that works. People who want to have sex will have sex no matter what. They should be taught about protection. Same thing with drinking. Yeah the law in the United States says that you have to be 21 to have a drink. People who are underage find ways.
I think changes need to be made so people need to learn the consequences of their actions. I mean abstinence only is taught but look at all thetrying to have sex with a 14 year old who was an undercover cop.
Things have got to change in this country.

Halliburton
http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/000318.php
From Iraq. Dick Cheney's best friends at Halliburton, who if you recall were awarded no-bid contracts in Iraq as well as in New Orleans after Katrina, have been giving our troops stationed in Iraq dirty water and it's been making the troops sick.
I want to know why no investigations have been done on this after all these soldiers are putting their lives on the line and one company is making them sick? Where is the outrage that they keep getting contracts from Dick Cheney former CEO. Where is the investigation on shooter himself after all this is a huge conflict of interest.
So much for ending corruption.

Since I rarely give good news about Bush I guess I should for once in this website. It appears unemployemnt is at 4.7 percent which is a good number. One thing that never is mentioned is how many people are unemployed that have their benefits expire. But still that is a good number.

Thank You
As we get the 5000th hit on my website I, as always, want to say thank you for supporting me. As I always say what you think (as long as it's clean) and you can agree or disagree with me as you wish but remember have fun as well.
Caught
Well let's see here. According to testimony Scooter Libby says that George Bush authorized him to leak confidential information regarding Valerie Plame.
Now someone might correct me if I'm wrong but didn't George Bush say he would fire anyone associated with the leak and didn't Bush also say that it's treason to leak classified information?
Back up your words Bush you, Cheney need to resign and be tried.

Delta Airlines
Keep an eye on Delta Airlines. The pilots, who already took a paycut, authorized the union to go on strike. Delta management, who by the way didn't take any pay cuts, is claiming that they need the pilots to cut pay further to keep the airlines operational. Nevermind there is a signed contract management wants to rip it up.
It will be a sad day if the courts allow this to happen.

Only on Fox
So let me see if I can understand FoxNews right. Tom DeLay resigns and the democrats are corrupt? That's what I was hearing all day on Fox. Sounds to me like someone is forgetting which party is in charge of this country and who is most corrupt. I expect though no less from Fox.
Another Thought
Earlier I posted ideas about what to do with illegal immigration I, along with Robert, passed our ideas about fixing the problem. One thing though I just realized one thing not talked about. (I'm singling out Mexico in this case cause in California that's the main issue) My question is why doesn't the United States put any pressure on President of Mexico Vicente Fox. He's a part of this as well.

Priorities
I often wonder about what the priorities are for the right-wingers. I'm reading the letters in the Los Angeles Times and they had comments about a story and photos about wounded soldiers from the Iraq lie, I mean war.
The right-wingers are upset not at the war but at the fact that the Times has the "nerve" to publish the pictures of the wounded soldiers. I don't get it do they not want the public to know what damage the administration is causing to the soldiers?
As I said I wonder what the priorities are.

Parting Shot
Nice to see how nervous Tom DeLay is about his trial. From thinkprogress.org a conversation between him and Tony Snow from Fox Radio:
SNOW: Okay, so at this point, you know — are you willing to let bygones be bygones?
DELAY: Absolutely not. Texas should not allow a district attorney from Travis County have this kind of power. And they can take his power away from him because there was the Texas legislature that gave him this power. And I think that will happen in the next session of the Texas legislature.
SNOW: Oh, really?
DELAY: Yes.
So if a prosecutor (who indicted Mr. DeLay) shouldn't have that power should the President?

Congrats
Congrats to the Florida Gators and coach Billy Donovan. You were clearly more prepared then UCLA for this game. No excuses UCLA blew the chance to raise that 12th banner. But UCLA will be back and UCLA WILL WIN next year. Coach Howland thank you for the great ride this year.
Enemies List
Last week if you recall I started an enemies list to basically counter the one Bill O'Reilly started. The first two additions were Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter.
Now is a third and this shouldn't suprise anyone. Rush Limbaugh. He's said a LOT of stupid (in my opinion) things but this is really disgusting and why he's added to the list.
Two or so weeks ago the Duke Mens Lacrosse team was accused of raping a woman. Mind you I'm not assuming guilt or innocence yet. I'd like to, courtesy of mediamaters.org, give you a quote from Rush's radio show. This is a conversation between him and a couple of callers.
LIMBAUGH: They're -- they're busy. They're busy. The Reverend Jackson is in New Orleans. He's leading a big march there tomorrow. The march is -- what is it called? The -- the march for the right to return a protected vote and reconstruction. He's trying to -- they got problems down in New Orleans. They don't have voter base, and Sharpton's working on a New Orleans deal, too. He's trying to figure out how he can get involved in the deal down there at Duke where the lacrosse team --
CALLER 1: Yeah.
LIMBAUGH: -- uh, supposedly, you know, raped, some, uh, hos.
CALLER 1: But I don't think they're very happy about all of this.
LIMBAUGH: Yeah, well, but, the problem -- that -- that has a possibility down -- that Duke thing's got a possibility of being a Tawana Brawley situation. That -- and Sharpton's got a balance -- can he afford another one of those as -- as his life's going on? New Orleans is a big deal to him, and I -- I'm gonna tell you something. You'll -- you'll see these guys -- at some point, they will get involved, be-because when Ted Kennedy calls it the new civil rights movement, that's Jesse Jackson's turf. He owns it. So --
CALLER 1: Right.
LIMBAUGH: Yeah, anyway, I gotta run here because of the constraints of time out there. [Caller], a great, great question. Uh, exotic dancer, OK, say rape -- whatever happened. You know what it is down there at Duke. It's -- you watch what happens in that. That's --
[...]
LIMBAUGH: It's open-line Friday, and I am Rush Limbaugh, America's anchorman and your host for life. This is -- this is [caller] from Bryant, Texas. Hello, [caller], great to have you with us.
CALLER 2: Rush, did you just call those young ladies "hos" on the nationally syndicated program?
LIMBAUGH: Yes.
CALLER 2: Do you know something about them that perhaps we don't know?
LIMBAUGH: Yes, yes I did.
CALLER 2: Oh, you --
LIMBAUGH: It was a, it was -- hang on -- now, what, what did you say there, [caller]?
CALLER 2: I said, because -- and if they are hos, it doesn't mean that they can still -- you can do to 'em whatever you want.
LIMBAUGH: No.
CALLER 2: Well, why would you call them hos on the national --
LIMBAUGH: Well, because, because I'm running on fumes today, [caller], and I felt terrible about it. And I knew somebody was gonna call and give me a little grief so I'm takin' the occasion of your call to apologize for it. That was, it was a terrible slip of the tongue. I'm sorry. But it wasn't the worst one that has been said recently. You want -- do you know who Keanu Reeves is?
CALLER 2: Yeah, I know who he is. He's an actor.
LIMBAUGH: Well, he's, he's, he's an actor.
CALLER 2: Yeah.
LIMBAUGH: He's a whacko. He's, he's an -- an actor and, he -- what was he doing? He was -- the Women Against Domestic Violence group was already in a dither because Keanu Reeves told an interviewer he learned something filming a rape scene with Hilary Swank for a movie called The Gift. And he said was, what he learned was that some of these ladies don't mind it.
CALLER 2: OK. But --
LIMBAUGH: He said he learned that in a rape scene but -- so, you know, I'm not the worst offender.
CALLER 2: Well, I hope you --
LIMBAUGH: I just, I'm looking at this case down there at Duke, [caller], and it's -- there's some things about it, some inconsistencies. You've got some timeline differentiations and matriculations and, and so forth. I'm just -- but it was, it was terrible slip of the tongue, and I am, I am terribly, I am terribly sorry.
It was not a slip of the toungue ladies and gentlemen. You know it, I know it. He said it, he acknowledged it and then oops? Come on.
Rush congrats you are number 3 on my enemies list.

No suprise

I'm not suprised that the Supreme Court ruled like that but they gave Bush the right to kidnap, hold indefinately anyone they choose as an enemy combatant for as long as he wishes. Without access to lawyers and he has the right to torture, abuse, humilate them.
We are really going to hell as a nation aren't we?

One More Try
You see it's reverse psychology. I predict UCLA to lost and they win. So Florida 75 UCLA 69. Let's hope I am proven wrong.

Who was right?
Remember when Jill Carroll was released the other day? I posed responses from Johna Goldberg and other right-wing reactionaries who thought BEFORE they spoke after Jill Carroll said in a tv interview she was treated well by her captors. I'd like to give an expert from a statement she released yesterday.
I also gave a TV interview to the Iraqi Islamic Party shortly after my release. The party had promised me the interview would never be aired on television, and broke their word. At any rate, fearing retribution from my captors, I did not speak freely…
I want to be judged as a journalist, not as a hostage. I remain as committed as ever to fairness and accuracy–to discovering the truth–and so I will not engage in polemics. But let me be clear: I abhor all who kidnap and murder civilians, and my captors are clearly guilty of both crimes.
So let me ask who was reactionary. Naturally the right wingers.

I, as usual on a Sunday, would like to talk about Bill O'Reilly's column in the Los Angeles Daily News. He, like all right-wingers, are obsessed with the French because they were right about Iraq not having WMD's (remember righties were so upset with the French they wanted to rename French Fries and French Toast to Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast?). In fact Bill O'Reilly if I recall tried to, and claimed success, on a French boycott.
But to today's column. He blasts the way the French (and most of Europe) keep the labor force. He's complains about that the French worker actually get 7 weeks vacation a year nevermind in the United States we are lucky to get two weeks vacation. (I don't even remember that last time I had a legitimate vacation).
He also predicts the Europeon economy will collapse because they care about keeping their employees. Pretty much giving them jobs for as long as they show up is there policy. Wonder if that would work in the U.S. probably not.
As usual O'Reilly is wrong about everything.

Oops
Good thing I didn't bet on that game. Wow. Congrats to UCLA and Coach Howland. Man what a great ride it's been.

A quick prediction
As I said I'm not a homer. Key for the game if my Bruins can contain Glenn "Big Baby" Davis. If so they will win. LSU though is a great team and that might not be enough.
Prediction LSU 72 UCLA 68 in a heartbreaker of a loss.
