How's he gonna spin this?

From the Bill O'Reilly radio factor on November 8th..

O'REILLY: Hey, you know, if you want to ban military recruiting, fine, but I'm not going to give you another nickel of federal money. You know, if I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, "Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead."

And if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.

The 210-foot Coit Tower was dedicated in 1933 and contains a museum and murals that depict working life in 1930s California.

So he states "if San Francisco votes against military recruiting not only will your federal funds be banned but we(I assume by we he means the right-wing government or does he mean the right-wing media it's hard to tell by him) are going to "let" al-queda come in and attack the city and "blow up" the beautiful Coit Tower. This from a man who has never served himself this from a man who supports people who never served. And you wonder why so many now hate us. And yes for the record I never served but I'm not going on the record saying you better serve as he is or if you ban recruiters you will be attacked.

O'Reilly, while being a little extreme, is essentially correct here. San Francisco has no right to ban military recruiting anywhere within the city limits. This has nothing to do with other countries hating us, it actually has to do with freedom of speech.

And you don't think you're republican

Well, my registration says "Independant".

I think freedom of speech, for the most part, is something Democrats and Republicans are in favor of.

And don't cities have the right to decide who does and doesn't do business in them? I could be wrong (seriously) but don't they?

YOu've said before you want the government involved as little as possible isn't the military a big part of the government?

No, they don't, or at least shouldn't. That goes for blocking Walmart too, even though I hate Walmart.

That's right, I stated that. However you are misinterpreting that. National security and defense is the primary task of the executive branch of the federal government according to the Constitution. I'm against the federal government expanding in other areas where they have no business sticking their noses in. And, yes, that goes for Bush, too. He is as guilty of this as any other president outside of FDR.
