July 11: Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper has conversation with Rove, who tells him Wilson's wife works at the CIA and authorized the trip. Later, CIA Director George Tenet apologizes for uranium claim.

July 14: Novak writes in his column: Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an Agency operative. Two senior administration officials told me Wilson's wife suggested sending him to Niger.

Sept. 16: Asked about a potential Rove role in Wilson story, White House spokesman Scott McClellan calls it totally ridiculous.

Sept. 26: Justice Department begins investigation.

Sept. 30: President says, If there's a leak … I want to know who it is. … If the person has violated the law, that person will be taken care of.
