Two Scandals

I'd like to talk about two different Republican sex scandals that are currently affecting the Republican Party involving two of their Senators Larry Craig (R, Id)and David Vitter (R, La).

Both are involving sex, both are actually involving illegal sex.

David Vitter admitted having sex with a prostitute on the Washington D.C. madam and Larry Craig was arrested in a gay sex ring in Minnesota.

That's where the similarties end. For some reason Republicans are demanding Craig resign for his actions but not Vitter for basically doing the same thing.

Could it be the only difference is Craig had gay sex or was attempting to? I mean we know how Republicans feel about gay people which is disgusting as it is but could that's the only difference between the two scandals.

And the worse part is how they claim to be the party of values!

I'd like to talk about a certain senator who left the scene of a crime while a woman was drowning in his car and he did nothing about it. That filthy pig is still in the senate and Larry Craig is on his way out. I would suggest that playing footsie in a bathroom is small potatoes compared to what that disgusting pig did. I can dredge up just as many sex scandals about your party as you can about mine. So get off your high horse, Erik. I am a Republican because I believe lower taxes are better than higher taxes, smaller government is better than bigger government, a stronger defense is better than a weaker one and that capitalism is obviously superior to socialism. Can we debate these issues, Erik, rather than sleazy scandals? Every major organization you can think of whether its the GOP, The Democrat Party, the police department, the Church will always have a few bad apples that make the rest look bad. A sex scandal in my party will not cause me to change my values, and yes, I am still a practicing Roman Catholic even as my church is emerging from one of the worst sex scandals in its history. Jesus teaches us to hate the sin but love the sinner.
Have a good week end Erik. Peace be with you. You will be a better person once you abandon your silly conspiracy theories and recover from your Bush derangement syndrome. I know see why you like the Daily Kos so much, you spew the same malicious venom, hate, and conspiracy theories as they do.

To answer your question more specifically about the diffrence between Sens Craig and Vitter. Sen. Craig apparently walked into a trap and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct (not lewd conduct) after the police officer threatened to put him jail. He paid his fine and thought no one would find out. Guilty or not he's damaged goods and will most likely resign shortly.

Sen Vitter, on the other hand, stupidly left his cell phone number on the madam's list. He has not been charged with any crime.

If we were to remove everyone in Washington guilty of committing adultery, the city would empty out faster than New Orleans just prior to Katrina.

Have a good weekend, Erik, I like blogging with you but would prefer substantive policy issues not sordid sex scandals and conspiracy theory mongering.

You are typical Republican we are not talking Kennedy(although if I was around and that part I would say he should resign as I said about Wiliam Jefferson but we are talking about the corrupt Republican.

A) We are talking Republican Corruption and scandals now. Keep it on topic instead of living in the past but again since I guess you have nothing happy now in your party I guess you have to

B) Craig was not set up according to the interviews airing on TV now. Craig said so many contradictory things it's laughable. If he's gay he should come out already I personally don't really care if he is or isn't it's not my business. But again I ask what is the difference between him and Vitter?

Oh I see Erik, we are ONLY allowed to talk about REPUBLICAN scandals. Can't talk about NJ Governor Jim McGreevey, or Hillary's corrupt fundraising, or Bill's sorry long track record of sexual harrassment, or the continuing and endless scandals of the Kennedy family like Congressman Patrick kennedy getting off scott free with driving under the influence of drugs an alcohol. Or Murtha. Or anyone else. We can only discuss REPUBLICAN scandals. We're the only ones who sin you know, you guys are soooo perfect. What about LA Mayor Don Juan sleeping around with a television reporter who was covering his office. Talk about embedded reporters! Give me a break Erik! Enjoy your three day weekend.

PS Next week can we talk policy not scandal. Also by the Sen. Warner is 80 years old, I don't blame him were wanting to retire and Tony Snowe is battling a serious recurring cancer.
