Baseball

I'd like to first give my congrats to Bruce Sutter for making the Baseball Hall of Fame. I feel he deserves the honor. Now I'd like to comment on someone who is not elgible for the Hall of Fame and that is Pete Rose.

I am a Pete Rose fan. I feel he should be in the Hall of Fame based on his performance as a player. He IS the alltime leader in hits and again if you base it on stats as a player he should be in with bell on.

I realize he bet on baseball. We are full of second chances. Look at Steve Howe among others. If the Hall of Fame was concerned about ethics would Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb be in it? Everyone knows they are among the least ethical members of the Hall of Fame.

I am not saying he should be reinstated in baseball. Don't get me wrong on that. I just feel he is deserving of the Hall of Fame as I said based on what he did as a player.

By the way I remember Baseball Commisioner Bud Selig saying all he had to do was come clean about the gambling? He did in the book he released last year and Selig is still giving him an FU. Where is the honesty there as well?

Pete Rose never apologizes or admitted any wrongdoing to Major League Baseball. Steve Howe isn't in the Hall of Fame so that's not a fair comparison.

I'm not going to dispute your opinion, I'm just attempting to get the facts straight.

As for Babe Ruth, he was a womanizing drunk, but I never heard of him doing anything to hurt the game, itself.

Did you read the book my life behind bars? He did admit to gambling on baseball in that book. Who has the facts?

It's not about admission, it's about acknowledging wrongdoing and apologizing to the league. Rose never did that.

HE did in the book admit to gambling on baseball.

Why are you not understanding me? He never admitted that his gambling on baseball was the wrong thing to do and that it hurt the game. He never apologized for his actions. Bud Selig called him out to apologize, implying that if he did so, Major League Baseball would reconsider his expulsion from the game. Rose, being stubborn, refused to comply.

NO actually it wouldn't. Selig said if he came clean (which he did in the book) he would reinstate him. He did. Who is still banned?

And if it's about gambling Selig owns a casino, Steinbrenner and Brad Penny owns horses and you know it goes on far more then we think. Rose and Shoeless Joe are the only ones who got caught.

Here is a quote from the very website you posted http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1050968/posts

"It is believed that Rose will have to both admit to gambling on baseball and apologize for his actions for Selig to reinstate him into good standing, thus making him eligible for election to the Hall of Fame."

Rose admitted to gambling but did not apologize.

He asked for a second chance that's in his way apologizing

And if I recall Selig said all Rose had to do was come clean. Not apologize come clean.
