Overrated
Congrats to the Texas Longhornes for beating the apperently overrated USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl. Bottom line is USC blew that game and Texas wanted it and USC did not want to win. Now before USC fans like Robert ask where UCLA was last I saw UCLA won the bowl game they were in and represented Los Angeles and the Pacific-10 conference where USC did not. And don't talk about the other two cause it's what have you done lately and USC chocked!

How did USC choke? They failed to execute on a 4th and 1 and they failed to stop Vince Young when they needed to. But give credit to the Longhorns, they executed at the critical time. USC was bound to lose sometime. I'm surprised they went as far as they did because this Trojan team was not as good as the ones of the previous two or even three years. They had an incredible run. Don't call them overrated. That's a really stupid assessment.
First off why did they not punt there and give Young a long field to work with? Who blew a 12 point lead with 5 minutes left? If that's not a choke job I don't know what is. But it actually serves me right for actually wanting them to win. No wonder Carol was 86ed from the NFL with bad coaching as that game.
Also giving up a 4th and 8 like they did allowing a touchdown? Again choke.
Carroll is the best coach in college football, hands down. Again, the better team (by a very slim margin) won. The Trojans have nothing to be ashamed about, it was a great game.
You are not though responding to my two posts about the bad coaching. If Carroll is the best coach he would have won instead again of that choke job.
Remember good teams find ways to win and USC found a way to lose
You are making judgements based on one game and playing Monday morning quarterback. If Lendale White had gotten that extra half-yard, the Trojans would have run out the clock and Pete Carroll would have been thoroughly vindicated. It's a game of inches, Carroll gambled and lost. That's not choking, that's not bad coaching.
Look at the Notre Dame game, instead of a game-tying field goal, Carroll went for the win and it paid off. He would have been second-guessed to no end had the Trojans not scored.
Forget yesterday, Carroll has proven he is the best coach in college football for the past 4 years. One game does not take that away. Again, give some credit to the Longhorns. They played a great game.
My question is where was Reggie Bush why wasn't he in the game for that play? And I gave Carroll all the credit in the world against Notre Dame for that gutzy call
But yet again good teams find ways to win bad teams find ways to lose and yesterday USC was a bad team they found a way to lose that game. It was a choke job no more no less.
4th and 2 clearly calls for White, not Bush. Bush either gets 20 yards or -2 yards when he gets the ball. White consistantly gets yardage even when defenses stack up against him.
Call it what you want and think all you want of Carroll, but I give Carroll all the credit for getting the Trojans to the Rose Bowl. For anyone who follows the Trojans like me, they were clearly not the same team, defensively this year as the previous three years. Tatupu, Patterson, and Cody all had good rookie years in the NFL this year. Troy Polamalu, after just 2 NFL seasons is considered by many to be the best free safety in the game. USC lost too many players and they still almost won the national championship.
Let's see how well Carroll does next year without Leinart, Bush, Jarrett, and maybe even White. I won't expect miracles but I'll bet they remain a top 25 team.
Is Jarrett a senior I thought he still had one more year. I think White will go though. Bush I think might stay one more year I just have that feeling. And my question was why didn't they have Bush in the game not why didn't they give him the ball.
And if Carroll is the best coach in the country why did he lose to an inferior Texas team?
If Bush stays (I don't think he will), there will be a lot of angry people in Houston. Actually, the best move Houston can make would be to draft Leinart. I believe he will be a star in the NFL. I'm not so sure of Bush.
I did answer your question about Bush being in the game.
"4th and 2 clearly calls for White, not Bush. Bush either gets 20 yards or -2 yards when he gets the ball. White consistantly gets yardage even when defenses stack up against him."
Actually best move Houston can make is draft Vince Young. Hometown hero type of thing. Then I think Tennesee would draft either Bush (if he comes out)or Leinart (reuniting either with NOrm Chow)
And if you don't think Bush would have been a great decoy in that play I don't know what to say.
