Media things

One of the things I keep hearing about how the media covers the occupation in Iraq is you don't hear the good things. Last I checked war is never good. There is death there is destruction. People who served know that. People with a brain know that.

Remember we are not allowed to see the flag-drapped coffins of the fallen soldiers. I think that's important to show the reality of war. Nothing good comes from war. War is a necessity (as it is in Afghanastan) but war is not roses.

The occupation in Iraq has been a disaster. Cheney, looking more and more foolish keeps saying how the insurgency (mind you if we were invaded and took up arms we would be called "freedom fighters but they are insurgents) is ending. Yet every day more and more soldiers are getting killed. But the media is only supposed to report the positives.

Of course if it was up to the right the media wouldn't cover any news. Just Paris Hilton and the such. Take a look this week. The New York Times got bashed mercilessly for covering a program that BUSH AND THE ADMINISTRATION HAS TOLD THE WORLD ABOUT. I mean I guess the question is do we have freedom of the press or not?

The reason I ask is I don't think you should have it both ways. It's convenient for the Bush Administration to use the N.Y. Times to leak the name of a CIA covert operative (Valerie Plame) but the N.Y. Times isn't supposed to report the illegal activities of Bush?

Something is wrong.
