Terror Level

I wonder when there is going to be a raising of the national terror alert level from yellow to orange. After all, whenever Bush's numbers seem to fail that's when it's raised AND there is an election next year for senate and congress so it seems logical for Bush to use that to his advantage.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but are you suggesting the bomb threats in New York are purely artificial to boost Bush's rating?

Erik said...

Yes I am suggesting that. Like he did during the election last year. He goes for the fear tactic.

So much for you not subscribing to conspiracy theories.

Quoted from The Great Apollo Conspiracy on my blog.
"The only conspiracy theory I've ever subscribed to was JFK."

If you want let's take a look at what would have been talked about on Friday if the terror alert wasn't there: Karl Rove in front of a grand jury, republican house holding a vote that would have lasted 5 minutes changing that to 45 minutes cause it would not of passed otherwise. All things that would have been negative to Bush's ratings. Problem is as I said you can only cry wolf so many times before people become complacent and as I said it's not going to stop people from attacking again.

And this isn't a theory this is a fact. Take a look at the previous times the terror level has been raised.

I'm not going to look them up but the claim that the added security in New York and other large cities is purely political is a theory, or in my book, a hypothesis.

Then I tell you what Robert if you aren't going to look up these facts don't go accusing me of anything.

Erik, the only fact you are stating is a correllation between alerts and low approval ratings of Bush. I'm not about to go checking every time the level went to orange and compare it to Bush's rating. So, okay, let's for a moment, assume your statement is fact. Any statistician, heck, anybody who doesn't have a vendetta against the president would know that you can't make the leap from there and draw such conclusions and call it a "fact".

The Indianopolis Colts are 5-0. Therefore, I can conclude and state as "fact" that the Colts have bribed the NFL referees handsomely.

Only you would make a nonsense analogy like that. Again if you think I'm wrong show me facts that state otherwise because I am giving facts to back this up. You are just blowing smoke.

Robert E Wilson said...

No, Erik, you haven't given squat. It's your hypothesis. Therefore, it is up to you to show me your "facts" that support this hypothesis.

Robert E Wilson said...

Oh, my football analogy is no more nonsense than what you are spewing here.

Erik said...

I would think someone of your experience would come up with "Mine was better then yours" again though what your argument lacks is facts. Come up with facts then we can talk all night otherwise as I said you are blowing smoke.

Robert E Wilson said...

Don't steal my argument. Neither one of us have given any facts. But it is you who is making the statement and not supporting it. Come on! I want to see real data showing that the terror level rises to orange every time and only when Bush's approval rating has gone down. If you can't provide this, then your argument is worthless. It is just plain hypothetical.

Erik said...

Don't steal your argument?? You aren't making an argument. YOu haven't said anything other then a football analogy that has nothing to do with any of this what facts are you stating? I have seen nothing from you in any form of an argument so what the hell am I stealing from you.

Again here is proof of two cases where he has raised the alert level when things weren't going right for him: Kerry was gaining on him in the polls on the election but shortly before he raised the alert level and he won. 2nd this weekend in New York. Rove is going to testify and probably being indicted and the house extended a vote because they wouldn't have enough votes to pass a bill but instead of talking about those things negative toward Bush and the administration the media talked about the alert level. Again these are facts.

My mistake. I thought I was dealing with an adult here who had the courtesy to read and understand my statements without giving an inane rebuttal.

I've given you this courtesy. I cannot understand why you don't do the same.

By the way, your "facts" that you just stated are merely rhetoric.

What a second here I'm a child?? Read all of your nonsense posts here and tell me. YOu are a typical republican. You don't like what is being said you go to name calling. Pathetic I lost a lot of respect for you man. All I asked for from you is to back up your argument which you have not. So as I said you go to name calling. Very sad.
