To Sum up

To sum up the activities over the past few days for Dick Cheney:

1) He was hunting without a proper license

2) He was drinking while hunting

3) He shot someone

4) The public isn't notified about this (as we should be by the activities of our selected leaders, as we had to be notified about Clinton's sex life)

6) The Sheriff isn't notified for 12 hours after the shooting

7) Cheney admits screwing up but doesn't apologize

If there is something I'm missing let me know but it sounds like the following happened:

It was at the least wreckless endangerment at most involuntary manslaughter.

Since it's the V.P. no charges will be filed (but I think he could be sued for damages) while most people would be thrown in jail.

Now that you've read Erik's version. Here is the factual version (you know, what Erik claims to cherish)

Erik stated
"1) He was hunting without a proper license"

Cheney had a valid, completely proper hunting license allowing him to legally hunt in the state of Texas. What he did not have was a recently required stamp for upland game bird hunting. The Texas Sheriff stated that they only issue warnings for not having the stamp since most hunters are not aware of the requirement.

Erik stated
"2) He was drinking while hunting"

Flat out wrong! He was not drinking while hunting, he had a beer during lunch beforehand.

Erik stated
"3) He shot someone"

Well duh! I think that's what this is all about.

Erik stated
"4) The public isn't notified about this (as we should be by the activities of our selected leaders, as we had to be notified about Clinton's sex life)"

The Vice President did notify the press. It was a local Corpus Christi paper. He was not obligated in any way to do this nor is there some kind of time limit required of him to do so. Check the Constitution, I'm sure you won't see such a provision.

Erik stated
"6) (Where's 5?) The Sheriff isn't notified for 12 hours after the shooting"

Nothing wrong or illegal here. He was a little busy helping his friend get medical attention. Accidentally wounding someone with a gun is not illegal.

Erik stated
"7) Cheney admits screwing up but doesn't apologize"

He takes full responsibility for the accident. He should be commended for that. He apologized to his friend and his wife who are the only people he owed apologies to.

I'll switch from factual to opinionated mode now. I feel I have to mention this since Erik seems to have trouble distinguishing the two.

The liberal media has completely blown an unfortunate accident out of proportion. People like Erik are just eating this up. Erik and the media were determined to pick apart the interview today and find fault with it, no matter what Cheney would say. This accident had nothing, I repeat nothing to do with Cheney's capacity as Vice President of the United States. He wasn't at a diplomatic function, he was having recreation as he is allowed to do. This should just be a matter between Cheney and his friend. This matter should be let go but unfortunately, it won't because the media despises republicans.

I'm done. I've said my peace. I'm getting angry. I'm going to walk away from this now. Rebuke away!

Fact: He was hunting without a license: You said he was

Fact: He was drinking and hunting: You said he was

Fact: He shot someone: You said he did

Fact: He didn't notify the sheriff or the press

He didn't

So you are agreeing with all my points thanks Robert

And Robert why are you angry at me for reporting the facts of what happened I mean am I not? The Vice President shot someone. Most cases when people shoot other people that is a crime accident or not you get worked up cause I am telling what happened instead of leaving out everything I don't know what that speaks of you.

And one more even though the right-wing media is saying this is not a big thing it happens all the time it doesn't.
