Bribes

According to the new issue of Vanity Fair House Speaker Hastert is accused of taking bribes for the Turkish Government and in return he withdrew a house admendment "over an issue which remains of intense concern to the Turkish government-the continuing campaign to have Congress designate the killings of Armenians between 1915 and 1923 a genocide"

What the result was for many years, attempts had been made to get the House to pass a genocide resolution, but they never got anywhere until August 2000, when Hastert, as Speaker, announced that he would give it his backing and see that it received a full House vote. Thanks to Hastert, the resolution, vehemently opposed by the Turks, passed. Then on October 19, minutes before the full House vote, Hastert withdrew it. He attributed it to a letter from President Clinton.

Of course the mantra on the right is to blame former President Clinton for anything that goes wrong in the country whether he was in office, as he was at the time, or after he left(some even blaming him for 9/11) but if these allegations are true ladies and gentlemen of the internet (and again I'm just reporting the story) this person needs to be put in jail.
