Slave Wages

Bush signed an executive order tonight stating federal contractors rebuilding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to pay below the prevailing wage. This applies to the states of Florida,Louisiana,Alabama and Mississippi

The executive order waives the 1931 Davis-Bacon Act which states federal contractors to pay workers at least the prevailing wages in the area where the work is conducted. It applies to federally funded construction projects such as highways and bridges.

So now companies, not mentioning any names (Halliburton) can go in, charge slave wages(below minimum wage). And yet you wonder why poverty is on the rise every year since Bush took over
